We know that one of the biggest struggles for facilitators and consultants using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods is communicating to others the power of this amazing and adaptable tool.
You can write numerous case studies, have great photos for marketing, and even show video testimonials where users promote the transformational power of LSP. Decision makers will often still feel disconnected from the powerful outcomes of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®.
In the early 2000s, when we first introduced LSP into the Canadian market, we became aware of this problem. We were not alone in our experience. Other facilitators located in various locations around the global emailed us and asked for our advice on how to sell LSP. We tested, we prototyped, and we tinkered. We tried many ways to communicate to our potential market. We worked so hard at spreading the word that in 2007, we were invited by the LEGO® Systems Group to present on Marking LSP to the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® partner community in Billund, Denmark. We were happy to share our experiences from the field.
In order to sell LSP we felt people needed to experience the method, but how?
We began by hosting small coffee meetings where people could build for themselves. We attended numerous conferences where we could demonstrate the tool. We stickered up our company car, we rented billboards, and we took out booths in airports. We even found ways to weave LSP into all our engagements to gain maximum exposure.
Clearly these ideas were great. But unless you have an innovative leader or a decision maker with the ability to make intuitive leaps, closing was and is hard work. Travelling to conferences is time consuming, tiring, and expensive. What is the most effective and powerful tool to quickly communicate the true power of LSP?
We created Diagnostic Cards, which are based on LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods.
These powerful pocket-sized tools are the perfect communication, marketing, and sales solution. Next time you are in a meeting or at a sales call, just take out one of the decks and use them to facilitate a conversation.
The cards not only facilitate powerful conversations and fence jump the usual conversational roundabouts, but they help people to clarify their ideas and thoughts. The cards give people permission to come clean with problematic issues. The satire allows for laughter, which releases dopamine, which in turn creates a positive connection with your NEW client. It is not just the pictures that add value, it is the process of asking. This is how, in minutes, you can facilitate and create space for the conversations with the cards.
Don’t tell your clients they need LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods, let them tell you!
After you use the cards, make sure you send us your story so we can share the news with the community. Email us email@example.com
