We All Need to Play

playbook2001

We are designed to be juveniles until we die and that is part of our primate design as Homo sapiens. When we honor that design, we tend to be less violent, more communal and healthier...your level of agitation drops when you get playful, which tends to increase perseverance and mastery.

                             - Stuart Brown

These words say so much, and that is why we have been huge fans of Dr. Brown since first discovering him. The world needs his dedication to researching and spreading the word on why humans need play. And these ideas are at the foundation of what our organization stands for. We strive to do our part to change the world through the power of play.

Over the years, we have worked with a variety of clients in a variety of industries. And no matter how serious the nature of the business or its issues, our approach of facilitating playful problem solving has always led our clients along a positive path forward. We have seen firsthand how people relax when they play, willingly collaborating to find viable solutions.

We have been seeing a growing number of educators showing interest in bringing play into schools, not just in classrooms but with staff as well. This is a positive indicator to us that more people are accepting play as a lifelong necessity. And what better setting than in schools, where many of us learned not to play as we grew older.

If you would like to learn more about Dr. Brown and his work, we highly recommend you start by reading his book Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul. If you have already read this, what did you like? What is something that stands out in your mind? We'd love to hear your thoughts, so please share them in the comments section below.
