Strategic Play Insights

What do you get when you blend a little bit of improvisation, Art Therapy, and Agile, add a pinch of Design Thinking and a lot of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods, stir, and stand back?

Voilà!

Strategic Storytelling with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods

to uncover consumer insights.

Insights Group, LEGO Education

After years of using LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in workshops and focus groups with some of the world’s largest brands to uncover product insights, the Strategic Play® training team decided to formulate the program into a new LSP certification training program to share with our facilitators.  For years we have been sharing insider tips with our facilitators who conduct qualitative research, however, we could see that an application and specific training for this industry was needed.

This past spring and summer (2018) we formally designed & developed a new program, Strategic Storytelling with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods, specifically for creating impactful stories in 3D and for uncovering consumer insights.  LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitators already know well-constructed stories ignite change. But more than the usual storytelling, which is one step within the LSP 5-step process, this course is a deep dive into the neuroscience of storytelling, story making, and story listening. It unpacks the reasons why the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods are so powerful when applied to things like brand and product stories.

In September, we were invited to share this unique application at Procter & Gamble at the Innovation Gym in Cincinnati, where some of the world’s experts work on redefining product stories with amazing storytellers and researchers.

We are proud to be named BEST In CLASS at Proctor and Gamble

for our LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHODS Facilitator Certification Programs.

We trained and certified an in-house group of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method facilitators who will now use the transformation application of play to create the most powerful product and brand stories that emerge while thinking in 3D.  We were also joined by two of our Strategic Play Group community members: the amazing Susan Newhouse, one of the best creative practitioners and strategic innovation consultants in the USA, who works and plays in Chicago; and Sarah D. Moyle, an amazing graphic artist, trainer, and facilitator, who works and plays in Portland, USA with Intel.   During the training, we worked with four well-known P&G brands (sorry the rest is top secret) and used the LSP Strategic Storytelling application to further uncover insights—some obvious and simple, others complex and complicated—to clarify the key stories to communicate powerful brand messages to end users.
